Devoted to Reading the Bible in 2 Years

On Sunday, July 4th, 2010 we were challenged and invited to renew our DEVOTION to Christ and being his Church.  To this end, this is a personal invitation to you to join with the rest of the congregation in reading the Bible in two years starting this week!  Each week, we will receive scriptures from the Old and New Testaments to read that will help us to accomplish our goal. Each week the Scriptures for the week will be featured in the Sunday morning worship bulletin and scripture readings for the current month will be linked below. You can read them all at once, or split them up to get a shot from God's word throughout the day.  Even if you don't feel like you can read all the daily reading that is suggested for each day, read as much as you can each day and if you fall off the wagon, just start each day anew with reading.

Reading the Bible in two years is a part of the vision for the Church that Christ cast during the Season of Pentecost (Acts 2:42-47).  The Holy Spirit led the Apostles to organize the church in such a way that Disciples would spend time in the Scriptures. And we know that reading God's word will help us to be filled up with the power and be posed to sense the guiding of the Holy Spirit each day. The Bible says draw near to me and I will draw near to you (James 4:8a).
